Lakbay Norte 3: Outdoor Adventure

The much-awaited Lakbay Norte Media Familiarization is now on its third year and will run on January 22 to 29. Media participants from broadsheets – Philippine Star, Philippine Daily Inquirer, Manila Bulletin, Business Mirror; travel magazines – Asian Traveler, Balikbayan, Travel Plus, One Sport, Cebu Pacific Smile Magazine; including 6 Travel Bloggers; and Living Asia who will be doing TV coverage, will embark on this 8-day trip covering  in North Philippines. Lakbay Norte is a pre-summer media tour that highlights new and exciting activities, establishments, and attractions in North Philippines, as part of NPVB’s advocacy and campaign to promote the North Philippines as a preferred destination in the country.

The theme for this year’s Lakbay Norte is Outdoor Adventure where participants will board the Victory Liner Lakbay Norte Bus which will take them to 9 destinations in North and Central Luzon and experience activities like White Water Rafting, Surfing, Go Kart Racing, Spelunking, Trekking and many others. The participants will be rediscovering the North as the Lakbay Norte bus takes them through Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, La Union, Baguio, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Greater Subic, and Greater Clark in 8 straight days.

Lakbay Norte is organized by the North Philippines Visitors Bureau in partnership with Victory Liner and The Manila North Tollways Corporation, and sponsored by Universal Robina Corporation, the Department of Tourism, Bluecross, ActivAsia, Elite Ads, and Petron as the official fuel partner.

Travel Fair 2011…Truly Inviting

With the success of three Tara Na Sa Norte at NLEX events, the Manila North Tollways Corporation in partnership with Robinsons Land Corp. and the North Philippines Visitors Bureau held yet another Tara Na Sa Norte travel fair, this time in Robinsons Place Manila.

The tourism fair, lasting three days from July 8 to 10, was well attended by tourism practitioners, sellers, stakeholder, students as well as regular mall visitors.

Some of the guests who were there during the opening were City of Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim, DOT USEC Danilo Corpuz, DOT USEC Ma. Victoria Jasmin, DOT NCR Director Cynthia Lazo, DOT Assistant Secretary Benito Bengzon, DOT Region I Director Martin Valera, DOT Region II Director Bless Diwa, TIEZA Deputy General Manager Lydia Cosuco, Team Philippines Chairman Emeritus Bobby Joseph, Robinsons Malls Vice President Tommy Lee O, Robinsons Malls General Manager Arlene Magtibay, and Miss Philippines – Earth 2011 Athena Imperial.

With the purpose of promoting the North Luzon as a preferred tourist destination in the Philippines, the Tara Na Sa Norte Travel Fair showcased the tourism potentials of North Philippines as the emerging tourist destination for nature, adventure, cultural heritage, culinary, and the arts.

There were a total of 41 booths where exhibitors offered low season tour packages, airfares, and other special deals. Participating sellers and exhibitors include Greater Subic Bay Tourism Bureau, Nueva Ecija Convention and Visitors Bureau/ LINEMA, Hotel Elizabeth, The Manor, Wellness Zone, Skynet Travel, Royal Northwoods, Camaya Coast, Pampanga’s Best, Sky Pasada, Puerto del Sol, Afro Asian Travel, Holiday Inn Clark, Fontana Leisure Park, Clark Devt. Corp, La Union Tourism, Wintrex Travel, Hotel Vida, DMIA, Meteor Tours, Travel Factor, SEAIR, Candaba Tourism, Vigan Tourism, SA Tours, SBMA, Pampanga Tourism, DOT and TIEZA.

The event was supported by the Department of Tourism, TIEZA, Clark Development Corporation, SBMA, Dizitab, Smart, McDonalds, Victory Liner, Team Philippines and SKAL International.

NORTH PHILIPPINES VISITORS BUREAU AND VICTORY LINER
HOLD 2ND LAKBAY NORTE

January 2010 marked the country’s first inter-regional media familiarization tour geared towards tourism promotion for North Philippines. Organized by the North Philippines Visitors Bureau (NPVB) in partnership with Victory Liner, Inc., the Fam Tour covered nine NPVB member provinces.

This year, LAKBAY NORTE was divided into 2 sectors: Travel by land using VICTORY LINER, and travel by air with CEBU PACIFIC., and timely scheduled during the pre-summer off-peak season, expecting a hype from the traveling public after the release of the news features just right before the summer travel season.

For the first sector, NPVB partnered with VICTORY LINER and highlighted the exciting activities in North Luzon, traveling across Baguio, La Union, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Subic Bay, Clark Freeport, Angeles City, Pampanga and Bulacan. The provinces of Cagayan and Ilocos Norte, were featured for the second sector, with media flown into Cagayan and out of Laoag through its official airline partner Cebu Pacific.

NPVB in partnership with the Philippines’ topnotch media practitioners will once again feature and showcase the newest and exciting destinations and attractions in North Philippines, as part of its advocacy and campaign to promote domestic tourism and be a catalyst for economic development.
