January 2010 marked the country’s first inter-regional media familiarization tour geared towards tourism promotion for North Philippines. Organized by the North Philippines Visitors Bureau (NPVB) in partnership with Victory Liner, Inc., the Fam Tour covered nine NPVB member provinces.

This year, LAKBAY NORTE was divided into 2 sectors: Travel by land using VICTORY LINER, and travel by air with CEBU PACIFIC., and timely scheduled during the pre-summer off-peak season, expecting a hype from the traveling public after the release of the news features just right before the summer travel season.

For the first sector, NPVB partnered with VICTORY LINER and highlighted the exciting activities in North Luzon, traveling across Baguio, La Union, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Subic Bay, Clark Freeport, Angeles City, Pampanga and Bulacan. The provinces of Cagayan and Ilocos Norte, were featured for the second sector, with media flown into Cagayan and out of Laoag through its official airline partner Cebu Pacific.

LAKBAY NORTE 2 was made possible through its Corporate Partners: Manila North Tollways Corporation, Victory Liner, Mc Donalds, Smart, and Robinsons Land. This year’s participating brands were Flying V, URC, DIZITAB, R.O.X., Sanuk, The North Face, COLUMBIA, ActivAsia, and Elite Ads as sponsors.

NPVB in partnership with the Philippines’ topnotch media practitioners will once again feature and showcase the newest and exciting destinations and attractions in North Philippines, as part of its advocacy and campaign to promote domestic tourism and be a catalyst for economic development.

NPVB is a non-stock, non-profit organization established in 2006 by the Manila North Tollways Corporation, the company behind the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and operators of the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), primarily to promote tourism and drive tourist traffic to North Philippines by promoting destinations, disseminating information and by enhancing the travel experience. It is also the umbrella/mother organization of 13 Convention and Visitors Bureaus (CVB). Each CVB is a voluntary, geographically defined, local, private sector-driven, membership-based network of tourism stakeholders that include Ilocos Norte, Baguio, Cagayan, La Union, Pangasinan, Greater Subic Bay, Bataan, Zambales, Greater Clark, Pampanga, Tarlac, Bulacan and Nueva Ecija.
